Inaugural Silent Auction for The Source
The Club’s Inaugural Silent Auction in March was a great event. Woody & Karen Boarman did an unbelievable job of organizing everything prior to the auction and Woody kept the process going with the help of Janet Leh & Glendora Morris. Karen’s creative purses were a hit as were the artwork, the cruises, and other donated items. As a result of the Source was presented with a check in the amount of $14,710.

On Saturday, April 13, 2013,
Ocean Research & Conservation Association (ORCA), headed by Dr.
Edie Widder, is sponsoring a walk entitled: I Love My Lagoon and I’m
walking to save it. Registration/check in is at 7:30 a.m. with the walk
beginning at 8:00.
.
It should be a fun event and a great way to start your
Saturday morning before heading to the Farmers Market or wherever. Kent Taylor Brown has volunteered to
provide music during the event; Dr. Widder will be there to present
prizes; and Charter HS students will have a display of the work they have
done in mapping pollution in the lagoon.
Raffle tickets will also be available for an American Cruise Line cruise for 2 valued
at $8000. The cruises are river cruises
within the US and also the Alaska Inside Passage. The drawing will be done at the end of the
walk event. In addition we will be drawing a winner for a one week stay at The
Reef Ocean Resort.
A number of members from the Club have already registered to
walk as a Yacht Club Team and we are in line to win a prize as the largest
team.
If you would like to register please go to www.teamorca.org,
click on I love my lagoon & am
walking to save it on the right side of the page and follow directions from
there. Just remember our password is
“yacht” all in lower case. Since it is
past March 29th t-shirts are no longer available.
Be sure to invite your friends and neighbors to join
you. Hope to see you on Saturday
morning.
